Levels of Bias

When the prejudice of a population changes, who in the population drives that change?

A little about this project

Currently, I'm in the review phase for a paper on this study in collaboration with Dr. Neil Hester, and my supervisor Dr. Eric Hehman. Using a novel approach to analyze prejudice trends over time, this project seeks to clarify the patterns underlying this attitude change.

Findings

We found that in cases where, on average, people are getting less prejudiced over time, individuals with the most extreme attitudes are disappearing the fastest. Our research has found this to be the trend for different prejudices (e.g., anti-black, anti-gay),  using several measures and datasets.

Goal: Science communication

I presented a poster format of these findings at the SPSP conference in San Francisco and practiced summarizing my research in just a few minutes.
